Conservative on Target! Hope & Fear, Boehner, West, Reid’s Sham, SunTzu, Military Gutting, West & More

HALL OF SHAME! [Christian Terrorist is Grim News on Eve of Ramadan and 9/11 says a sickening, demagoguing post from The Huffington Post, initiating an attack on Christians that will reverberate through the halls of leftist media. As yet this nutcase is not known to have belonged to any organized Christian group, is known to have attacked protestant theology, and appears to only have been typed by a Norwegian policeman. This is an obvious attempt to find a whipping boy to take the public’s eye off the organized murder of many tens of thousands of innocents by state-sponsored and home-grown muslims advocating violent jihad and sharia law. If there is any shame left on the left, it needs to come out now. If not, I fear for this country. – JS]

Breaking News at 8:52 PM > Allen West backing Boehner’s debt deal: Via the Standard, the scoop on West comes from Cox Radio reporter Jamie Dupree. West himself weighed in on Twitter: “I will support the new debt deal- it has enough of what I need including no tax hikes, spending caps and a step toward a balanced budget.” [It looks to me like Allen has jumped the gun and backed a plan that is hardly disclosed yet and appears to have very little conservative backing on the Hill! He had pledged to support Cut, Cap & Balance with many of the rest of the conservatives whom he appears to have now abandoned. – JS]

The White House Is Privately Telling Bankers That We Won't Default If Debt Deadline Missed: [This is news only to those who fall for Obama’s demagoguery and politics of fear! Conservatives or “financial terrorists”  – Stand your ground! – JS]

Obama's Intent to Gut the Military:
President Obama continues to push the notion that he wants a"balanced approach" to budget cuts, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the only spending cuts he is willing to contemplate are cuts in defense spending. The vast entitlement system that now eats the majority of tax dollars is, by contrast, not only on his list of programs to be sustained, but expanded. Mr. Obama seems determined to protect the welfare state. He lacks the courage and the candor to admit to the unsustainablity of an entitlement system which has pushed the nation to the brink of insolvency as our debts continue to mount. Instead of addressing the source of the spending problems, it is becoming clear that Mr. Obama intends to hollow out the military. What folly!

Religious free exercise applies to politicians, too: We are taking a dangerous path when we begin disqualifying individuals for public office if they actually practice the faith they profess. Texas Gov. Rick Perry, like every other American citizen, is free to exercise his faith. Our Founding Fathers recognized the threat presented by a state that could at its discretion proscribe or advocate a particular faith. Their time-tested solution? The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

"In all history, there is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare. Only one who knows the disastrous effects of a long war can realize the supreme importance of rapidity in bringing it to a close."
-- Sun Tzu [In other words, don’t go in unless you are going in to win by defeating the will of the people quickly rather than “nation building”. – JS]

[Harry Reid’s new debt sham is designed to accomplish only one meaningful thing – get the debt issue off the table all the way through the 2012 elections. The democrats are obviously terrified that 66% of the US public really mean fix this now! Our conservatives need to stand their ground and keep this before We the People! – JS]

West’s Weekly Wrap-Up: … there is an incredible ideological chasm growing in America. It pits liberal progressivism against American conservatism. One ideology has never succeeded anywhere in the world, the other has been instrumental in developing the exceptionalism of America. This is a philosophical battle which will decide the legacy of America. I for one shall take up my position on this battlefield and make this simple pledge: no retreat, no surrender, and no apologies.

Politics of Fear! Obama’s Dangerous Debt Ceiling Strategy: But that is the political game the White House is playing—and it's a dangerous one. Investment adviser James Rickards wrote to Politico, "Geithner and Obama are foolish to try to 'scare' markets over the debt ceiling. Markets are already scared. They're looking for reassurance and a more mature dialogue." Instead, we have the President and his legion of foot soldiers running amok, hoping to threaten the markets to achieve their political ends.[There was only a mild disruption that was not much different from any other bad news. – JS]

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said yesterday that resolution to the debt ceiling impasse would necessarily require a two-stage deal, with an initial stopgap agreement to reassure investors and more fundamental reform left until later. ‘’There is going to be a two-stage process. It is not physically possible to do all of this in one step,” he told Fox News.

Politics of Fear! The core difference between 2008 and 2012 is going to be the politics of hope, which we saw in 2008, versus the politics of fear in 2012. They won’t call it that, but so much of this campaign in terms of driving turnout among all these groups, is going to be about making the Republican alternative totally unacceptable.” ~ John Heilemann
