As I studied the Debt Debacle of the last weeks, I actually felt sorry for our current President - for a minute. Obama is now being recognized, by the whole political spectrum, for what he truly is: an arrogant, elitist, self-impressed, statist, progressive-if-not-worse, nobody who magically rose out of the political morass.
Read the following quotes from across the political spectrum and weep.
Richard Cohen: “Yet when the stock market fell more than 500 points last week and the image that night was of the president whooping it up at his birthday party, the juxtaposition — just bad timing, of course — seemed appropriate. He does not seem to care… Obama has always been the man he is today. He is the very personification of cognitive dissonance — the gap between what we (especially liberals) expected of the first serious African American presidential candidate and the man he in fact is… This president got elected because he was cool. He could be defeated because he is cold.”
Ben Stein: “But the most astonishing part of the whole dreary tableau is the utter irrelevance of President Obama. He cannot do anything about anything. He might as well be on the moon. The gunslingers on Wall Street and in London and Hong Kong and Tokyo have made him absolutely outer planetary. It's almost sad. He's flailing his arms around, and no one is listening. He might as well be President of The Off World Colonies. Yes, we can....we can be utterly irrelevant."
Dana Milbank, "the most powerful man in the world seems strangely powerless, and irresolute, as larger forces bring down the country and his presidency."
Charles Krauthammer: “He went out there with the Dow at minus-400. And after he spoke, it went down minus-600. He looked weak, plaintive and small. I mean weak and plaintive because he comes out there and he blames of course the tea party, Europe, Japan and the Middle East, probably God because he’s the author of earthquakes — everybody except for him.”
John Hayward: ‘How can anyone possibly square that dismal, dead-end socialist mindset with “faith in the American people? Obama literally fled from the podium without taking any questions, or even looking back over his shoulder. Clearly he senses that what remains of the American people’s faith in him has eroded beyond recovery. ‘
What really, really scares me is whatever has gone wrong with the fabric of this society that could result in the election of this fraud and failure!
