Conservative on Target!

What Is Poverty in America? President Obama plans to make [misrepresentation of poverty] worse by creating a new "poverty" measure that deliberately severs all connection between "poverty" and actual deprivation. Rector and Sheffield say that the goal is to measure income "inequality," not poverty—giving the President public relations ammunition for his "spread-the-wealth" agenda. [We currently spend approximately $33,333 per person on welfare per year. Is that poverty? Even when most poor households have more than 1 person in them? – JS]

The McConnell plan to hike the debt limit has only one thought behind it—fade the political heat.

Republicans in the House and Senate are pushing for a constitutional amendment to balance the budget amid continuing efforts to cut a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling in exchange for $1.5 trillion in budget cuts.

The Obama Administration has issued a new batch of Obamacare waivers. Of the 40,000 individuals exempted, nearly nine in 10 belong to union plans.

The New Slavery of Moral Superiority > Driving America from culture war into civil war. Over the past year, the idea that we're heading towards a new American civil war has moved from fringe raving to commonplace.  There's a deep divide between ordinary citizens and our leaders - we see American free enterprise as a self-evidently great force for worldwide good, but our President and his party blame the world's ills on America. [Great article! – JS]

If Obama wants some insight as to why the Republicans don't seem willing to just accept his ideas, he needs to look no further than his own record.  As the following two charts demonstrate, the policies implemented by the Democrats on his watch the last couple of years are an abysmal failure, having come up far short of even his own promises. [It’s really simple. He out-promised himself and out-borrowed every President in history! – JS]

The Republican Congressional leadership is concerned that a failure to raise the debt ceiling will turn into a national catastrophe and that the GOP will be blamed for that catastrophe.  GOP leaders are working overtime to convince the freshmen members of Congress that they need to walk back from their opposition to raising the debt ceiling. [Yes. The RINOs are out in full and intent on folding to Democrat demogoguery! Will they never learn? – JS]

365 Ways to Drive a Liberal CrazyNever speak of "Affirmative Action"—only of "Reverse Discrimination." > Elaborate by saying how angry it makes you that talented blacks, Mexican-Americans, and others who secured their jobs and their college places purely on their own merit will forever be looked on with suspicion and resentment as having gotten there purely because of the color of their skin (or other minority-qualifying attributes).
